Hi everyone. I'm in my mid 40 and retired from the military. I'm looking for a new career and thinking about the casino industry in Tunica, MS..
I'm looking for any insight on the best jobs and the casinos to work for. Thanks.

Jen is probably the only one that could answer your question correctly most of us live out of the area and only visit and gamble there.
I think working in a casino would be fun. I imagine that the "suits" jobs would not be unlike any other industry. Dealing would get old or at least I think it would. They make low pay and depend on tips so you better not miss a shift. I think if I were going to work in a casino I would rather be a bartender. They depend on tips also but I don't think it would get as boring as dealing. Oh, I love Tunica, no traffic to speak of and lots of cotton fields but its close to Memphis so you are not really that far away from all the hustle and bustle of the world. |

Hi Troxxel,
Each casino website has a link with all of the job openings. Usually it is listed as CAREERS. Once you upload your resume on each site you can apply for as many positions as you want. Trick is you must apply for positions separately, just posting your resume once doesn't cut it for all jobs. We are a 24 hour town so there are shifts around the clock. Currently the jobs are about 3,000 less positions than there were in 2007, but there are always several hundred job openings each day. It's an exciting industry unlike any other out there. For example there are more employees involved in security positions in the casinos down here than Memphis and Shelby County have police/deputies. Most of the casinos have outstanding insurance and perks. Some 401K contributions have been cut. All in all I think we have close to 12,000 casino employees here. Tunica was the third largest gaming destination in the country and we have now dropped to 6th. The casinos and county are working harder than ever to regain their once coveted position. Come on down and test the water. There is a new casino on the drawing board, a new car plant coming to the area, and lots of changes going on. If you have any questions I will try to help. Welcome to the board. Jen |
