Saturday Aug. 29^th update.

Tom is winding down his stay at the hospital. He is still in the ICU step down unit. (btw there are no visiting restrictions except 1 person after 10pm).
Yesterday he regained some of his strength and for the first time was able to take a few steps assisted.
He has been weaned off all but 2 IV's. No more cardio paddles. He is still major black and blue but some places are fading to pink and purple and his face has faded to purple and green.
(He was a mess). Yesterday he was breathing better and was able to take cat naps.
He sat in a chair yesterday to eat one of his meals. They have to redress his arm every couple of hours because of the bleeding but we are told that should quit soon.

Yesterday one of the ortho doctors told me I will have to redress it when we get home. Talk about heebie jeebies….augh… So, I need to toughen up. (picture nails going thru the skin and into the bone)
Doesn't bother him, but he is really protective because the arm hurts pretty bad. He's Tough.

If his physical therapy is successful in the next couple of days, he may be able to go home Monday or Tuesday. He is determined to be in Biloxi on the 12^th and 13^th.

I have to tell a funny then I have to get going…….

Every afternoon Cameron (4yr old) stops by after prekindergarten to check on Daddoo. He has turned into Mr. Little Caregiver straightening Tom's blanket, pillow and of course pushing buttons to make sure he is up or down right in the bed. His favorite thing is to tickle Tom's feet if they stick out from under the covers, then cover him up again, so that has become a game.
He crawls up on the bed and straightens Tom's oxygen and sometimes will just sit on the bed and watch tv or talk. A doctor asked if he worked there and he answered, "I sure do". He takes his job very seriously and is full of a thousand questions. The nurse rewards him with ice cream everyday so he does get "paid".
Well… He figured out the bubbling water container on the wall is connected to the oxygen line and became quite upset. He said didn't we know that hose went to Daddoo's nose and he was going to drown. Never a dull moment with him around.

Thanks for all the prayers, calls, emails, text messages, posts, and visits. It means a lot to Tom to know he has a cheering section and such wonderful friends and family.
