Seems every where we look around town the last few days there are license plates from La. and the gulf coast.
Tunica County currently has two shelters open. Housing over 200 people. Sam's Town's East Tower is currently housing over 400.
One of our visitors told me The Shelter at the GW Henderson Recreation Center was the best ever. She was telling us how even though it is tough living in a gym, it's the perfect place to stay with
use of the fitness center, pool, gym, and computer access. The Casinos and local churches have provided meals. Although the Red Cross only requires a bed, a blanket, and one meal, the volunteers, churches, and businesses of our area have really answered the call to make our visitors comfortable.
All hotels are full indefintely. When all is declared safe and the line up of hurricanes has passed, I am sure they will all be glad to be back home.
Until then kudos to the casinos, Tunica County, the churches, and the many volunteers. Our prayers and good wishes are with all of our misplaced guests. We so hope you return home to normality and your lives won't be turned upside down.
