My husband, myself, and another couple went to Tunica this past weekend. We stayed at the Horseshoe but played at the Sheraton, Gold Strike, Grand, and a little at the Fitz. Our husbands aren't much into gambling so they visited other attractions around Tunica, which I posted in a previous topic.
We ate at Paula Deen's Buffet one afternoon. The food was pretty good but some of the items were cold and they should have been hot or at least warm. I thought the barbeque was the best, and we all enjoyed eating there, with a few exceptions. Our friend tried the creamed corn which he said was not good. But there was plenty of other food available that there is no way you could go away hungry.
Gambling was up and down. I played video poker for the most part, but played some of my other favorite machines when I got tired of thinking. I love listening to the band and playing the machines. The guy that was there does a nice job with Elvis songs which I love. I had free play at the other casinos so we played a little at all the ones above. I was there for a shopping spree which my husband went to with me this time. I thought he'd want some tools and stuff, but he didn't see anything that he didn't already have or anything that he really wanted. So I got a couple of things for my grandchildren to enjoy here at Grandmama's - a double basketball game with nets along the side that two can enjoy at the same time and the balls come back to you, a Karaoke Machine with screen (I found out later that you have to buy special Karaoke CD's so that it will play the words on the screen), and I splurged on myself and got an Ipod and Bose headphones. I have wanted some Bose headphones forever but just couldn't pay that much for them. So I am so glad that I will be getting some, especially on those long flights when I tend to have my anxiety problems. Last year I got 2500 points to spend, but this year it was down to 1500. But I still got some nice things, so I am very glad we went.
The table games were brutal to us this trip. I never had one single winning session at any table game. That was pitiful!
I always hope my husband will win big so he will want to go back with me, but it just doesn't seem to happen. He's always thinking what he could have spent on his cars for the money he lost.
I'm going to Biloxi this Thursday (this was a real spur of the minute decision) as I have a lot of free play to use for July and then on Friday I can use my August, plus I'm going to a gift giveaway event at the Beau. I also have an offer from the Grand for a Wii. My granddaughter told me I had to go get the Wii. So, all you Grandmamas know, I can't disappoint my granddaughter. So, yes, I'm going to go get the Wii - whatever it is!
I've got a few other good offers from Tunica, so I think the casinos are really hurting right now. Of course you couldn't tell it at the Horseshoe the other night. It was packed. It always seems to be packed. I did see a girl cash in $2,700 in black chips that her boyfriend had won at the craps table, and he was still there playing. So at least somebody was winning.
It was a good time for all of us, I think. The guys enjoyed their outings, and my friend and I enjoyed the casinos. I came home with a little of their money, but not as much as I would have liked.
Good gambling to all.
Linda

Sorry about the cold food at Paula Deen's buffet. I've had the
creamed corn at her restaurant in Savannah and loved it. You got some nice gifts at the shopping spree event. Thanks for the report. It was nice to see you
in Biloxi!
