Just want to give you a brief account of my trip this past week (2 nights) to the Horseshoe Bossier City (LA). As I've reported before, I'm primarily a VP player, rarely ever playing anything else. On this trip I hit a $2000 royal plus 4 Aces with a kicker for another $2000. Then on Thursday evening I was leaving the Diamond Lounge on the 3rd floor of the casino when I decided to take a break from VP and cruise some penny slots. (There is no VP on the 3rd floor). I walked all the way across the length of the boat to the opposite corner from the Diamond Lounge and sat down at the Quick Hit machines. All the other machines in these banks were full and people were having lots of fun, so I sat down at the only empty machine. I noticed these machines were progressives and noted that those wins were paid only when max coin was played (as usual). Since max play for these was $3, I put in a $20 and figured I'd play it through.
In about 10 minutes, I had built up my credits to over $100. I kept getting lots of free spins, so it was lots of fun. If you hit 3 Quick Hit icons, you got back your $3 bet; 4 QH gave you $15; 5 QH won the bottom progressive of about $30+; 6 QH won about $150 or so…. I didn't even see how many it took to win any more because I knew it wouldn't happen and didn't plan to be there very long.
I hit 4 and 5 QH icons occasionally and started to cash out when my total went over $100 but, as so often is my case, I kept going. On the next spin I started counting as the icons came up on the screen: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, 9!!! The machine locked up and WINNER!!! was flashing.
Everyone started screaming that I had won. I kept asking, "Won what?" $19,979 was the answer!!! Yep, I had hit the highest progressive on this machine…a penny slot.
The casino reps came and checked it out completely, of course. You'd have thought I'd hit for a million…gee, wouldn't that be great? I tried to take a picture with my cell phone, but the rep insisted that I not. I did anyway, but it's so blurry it didn't turn out.
I took it in the form of a check with state and some federal taxes taken out, and now it's in my purse to put it in the bank…I've already started paying off a few credit card bills.
Everyone else on these machines were so excited for me that it was a neat experience (as if winning it anytime wouldn't be!). When I finally checked out the progressives on each of the other machines, I noticed that mine was the 2nd highest one. Another had reached $22,000. What amazed me though was that, of the 7 other machines within my eyesight, no one else was playing the max coin! Glad I did!
When I hear of someone's winning big, I'm always happy for them. It's sort of "if I can't win, I'm glad someone did", so I wanted to share this account of my amazing night. When I called my husband at home two hours away, he told me to "send the limo". That's always been our good luck quote "If I win big, I'll send the limo" Ha!
Happy gambling, Judy
