I'm being curious here and the age thread got this started.
How many of you smoke? As much as it grieves me, I still do.

I quit smoking December 15, 2007 at 8 PM!
Jerry started taking the
Chantix stop smoking pills 4 days ago. I hope he succeeds in stopping. I feel so much better since I stopped. Alot of my health problems have gotten so much
better!

I quit smoking in September of 2006. It's still the hardest when I'm sitting at the slots!!

I have never smoked and I am glad I never started. With my lack of willpower with food, I would never be able quit. Kudos to all of you who have been
successful in quitting.
Breathing the second hand smoke in the casinos just about does me in. Thank you to the ones who gamble but do not smoke. A few of times smokers have turned to me and asked if I minded if they smoke. I have thanked them for asking and told them I would change machines so they could smoke. They have courteously not smoked so that I could stay at my machine. |

Non-smoker. I've never smoked and I do commend all of you who have quit. I imagine that it is very difficult.

I have smoked on and off for many years. Am currently smoking but need to quit. My husband has never smoked. And thank goodness, neither of my children
picked up the habit.

Roberto, you are like me. I have a breathing problem and needed to stop smoking. I have been stopped for about 2 1/2 months. I hope I continue because I
want to feel better and to live longer. My husband is now taking meds. to stop smoking. I hope he quits too. He coughs so bad. We don't need this
stuff...tobacco!!

Regina has never smoked. I started smoking when I was 14. I quit smoking when I was 22. I never was a heavy smoker, no more than a pack or so a day when I
quit, so it wasn't difficult to stop.
As for vices, I tend to agree with the Mark Twain quote I use in my signature.
I haven't a particle of confidence in a man who has no redeeming petty vices.<br>

Quit smoking in 1989 after a scare. While at Mc Donalds, thought I was having a heart attack, and (yap...) started to pray VERY quickly....even made a
'deal', something along the order of: PLEASE (!) let me get through this one, and I'll quit smoking.....
I got through it allright... it was NOT a heart attack after all.... it was a gall bladder attack.... uhhhh, sure felt as what I would believe to be a heart attack. Ok, so..... I quit from that moment on COLD TURKEY (!), after smoking about 3+ packages a day for ca. 30+ years... could'nt lite them up fast enough.....Fortunally I quit everytime I was pregnant ( always stopped smoking 'automatically', and whenever I quit smoking my husband & I KNEW...and WAY before any first Dr. visit....), yet not so 'fortunate' I started up EVERY TIME right after the baby was born... and actually FORCED myself to smoke again... because lets face it, taking those first few 'puffs' is no joy, but just tasted downright ugly, but sure never took long to be hooked again.... It was not easy quitting, but what kept me going was FEAR!!! I feared that IF I did not stick to my 'deal' + promise, that THIS time the overall outcome may not be too good after all.... you see, I had made a 'deal + promise' once before.... but had NOT stuck to my end of the 'bargain'.... Anyhow, quitting was 'one day at a time', and each day I came home from work, I stuck $ 5 in a cookie jar, as a reward for not smoking that day. If I did not have the money on hand, my husband had to 'cough it up', since my cookie jar reward could not be overlooked!!!! As I stuck to the no smoking, the reward money accumulated relatively quickly, and soon I had enough to pay for an overseas trip to visit 'h-o-m-e' (always reminds me of 'ET going hooome...") To this day, almost 19 yrs later... I still get the 'urge' once in a while, and want to reach over, take somebodies cigarette to just take a puff.... outch!!! BUT, I am sooo very glad that I quit, as I sincerely do not think that I would still be around had I continued....There are of course also the other benefits: my close, my house, my car no longer smell like a smoke parlor.... Nowadays when I am at a casino I truly resent, no... I despise (!) all those poeple who show no consideration to their neighboring players, and are just blowing smoke my direction....... just don't enjoy enhaling what comes out of their lungs..... and hate my clothe to smell of smoke.... I recall that I NEVER 'puffed' somebodies way, and even put the 'da....' thing out, if I thought that somebody may be offended just sitting next to a smoker..... |

gambling addict, when Claire quit back in
1994, she put $20.00 a week away, about what a carton cost in those days, after 6 months of course she had $520.00. We booked a special through a travel agent
to Vegas, we flew the late night out of Atlanta on America West, or what ever it was, we were on the late night flight coming home also, we left Vegas in the
dark and when we landed here it was light. We stayed at Harrah's for 4 days, all for less than $500.00. It was nice to see what we saved in 6 months.
She quit saving after that and I don't have a clue where the money went after that.

I quit when I was 27 years old. Smoked 2 packs of unflitered camels a day. I won't say how many years ago that was........But it was a long, long, time
ago. Kathy
