Credit cards? |
Lead | ||
|
Does anyone know a credit card company that allows online gambling transactions? I received an email from the online gambling site that I had played at numerous times and it said that we can use credit cards instead of Neteller (now that Neteller has stopped allowing transactions with gambling sites). Three of my credit cards were declined and I was just curious if any U.S. credit card companies will even allow it? I guess we would have to get foreign credit cards to play

I have been having this same problem. Any credit card that I have ever had has never let me use it to gamble online. Period.
I have been able to use my bank debit card, however. I have always preferred to use my debit card b/c deposits and withdrawals are processed faster this way than with Neteller. Last week I was able to use my debit card at Allslots. This past weekend however I could not use my dc at Allslots, Big Dollar, Royal Vegas, or Vegas Palms. My mil could still use her dc at Royal Vegas, so she added her card to my RV account and deposited money for me. I got an email from them this morning. Evidently a third party card on your account is a big no-no. I spoke with an online casino support desk over the weekend. They pretty much told me the only deposit options for US players anymore is a credit/debit card or an Eco account. I signed up for the Eco account, but I doubt I will ever use it. It is kinda like Western Union. You wire the money, which takes days to get to the account (Europe based) and there is a fee involved. And I have read on the net that this may not be an option for the US players for much longer. Unless the online casinos come up with something soon, it looks like online gambling is going to be a thing of the past for the US players. I love our government and George Dumya. They really need to tell me how to spend MY money. If it wasn't for them, I don't know what I would do........... |

My bank issused debit card has always worked, but again it's illegal for my bank to fund my online gambling. You know they've already arrested the former head of Neteller and I suppose it's only a matter of time before they start arresting the players. Play at your own risk. Also try western union, it's almost instant and most casinos will take it if you ask support who to send to

sounds like the gambling sites need to issue their own credit cards for us to use....and I still don't understand why no US casinos don't tap into the online gambling craze (isn't that the whole reason that the govt stopped it was because of it being foreign based???). Heck, the land based casinos could set up online with us using our players cards - still getting our money but just from home. LOL

The reason it was stopped pretty much is because wins aren't taxable and the online industry isn't regulated, they'll take your money yet when you win you won't get paid, that happens alot and players have no recourse. The reason US land based casinos don't get into the online gambling market is because in about 95% of the US it's illegal to gamble.

oh, well, looks like it's back to spending money on gas and traveling to the land based casinos. bummer because I really enjoyed playing in the comfort of my own home and always had good service from the fortune lounge casinos anyway (the only ones I played).

I too enjoyed playing online casinos but I've long made the argument that land based casinos are far far better then online casinos. With complementry beverages, free meals, cash back and machines you can actually touch, not to mention the atmosphere and interactivity you can have at a real casino.

Brian, I agree with you. Its the same reason I go out to eat, it would be easy to order pizza delivered, or get takeout and bring back to the house, but I enjoy the atmosphere at the places I eat and talking with the folks I know there.

I agree with the atmosphere side of it, but in dh's and my case, online casinos are really the only option for us right now. We have 3 young kids and very few offers to ever have a babysitter. It is just plain easier, and in the long run, cheaper for us to be able to play online.
I read on compatiblepoker.com that a new e-wallet option is going to be available to US players starting tomorrow. It is called wirecard. It is like a pre-paid Mastercard. Here is a link with some info www.compatiblepoker.com/wirecard.cms.htm I am planning on signing up for this. I am going to try it out and see how it goes. As for doing better at land casinos vs. online casinos-to be honest, we have done much better in the last couple of years at the online casinos than we have in Tunica. I have racked up lots of *free* cash points at the casinos and have been sent lots of bonus cash in the mail for the online casinos that add up to way more than I ever got from the Tunica casinos. And we are by no means high rollers. Not even close. My mil tried her bank debit card last night at Royal Vegas. It does not work anymore. It worked Sunday, but not now. I read an article on gambling911.com about the online gambling law. Kinda interesting. I read an article somewhere else on the net about how the government has been secretly sending subpoenas to major credit card companies like HSBC, Bank of America, Capital One and Chase, requesting copies of any transactions that has to do with online gambling. The government, according to the article, is not going after individual gamblers per se. They are going after the financial institutions and anybody from the US (stockholders, CEO's) they think is making money off of the online casinos in any way. |

Also, I just wanted to add I read last night that Western Union is warning people to not use them as an option to deposit to online casinos. They will refuse any transfer they think has to do with it.

Yeah Western Union has been blowing that smoke for years. Online casinos are wise to WU games, that's why they change names and pick-up locations every few hours.

not to keep beating this into the ground but someone please clarify for me if I live in a state that allows land-based gambling, is it against the law to play online? Or is it against the law for ANYONE in the U.S. to gamble online? Just doesnt seem to be worth trying to find a way to play/pay online if it REALLY is against the law? Some things I will go to prison for (protecting my child, etc.) but not gambling! LOL

it's not illegal to play online casinos in the US (with the exception of the 7 state list that has state laws against it) but it's illegal for US financial institutions to fund online gambling. You should check your local and state laws pertaining to gambling. Banks and such have made it so hard to deposit money into online casinos I just stopped playing. There's no sense in jumping through flaming hoops just to make a deposit and most likely lose.

This is the site I have been going to. Scroll all of the way tothe bottom of the page and read the FAQ. It has info about the law and online gambling.
www.compatiblepoker.com/usa.php You can also go to this site for more info www.gambling-law-us.com Looks like Wirecard isn't going to do US transactions for gambling after all. |

That's because banks that issue credit cards aren't going to run the risk of being prosecuted. Aside from putting cash in an envelope and mailing it to the online casino you're pretty much stuck in the water. Everything was fine till the neteller guy got arrested now everyone is turning gambling transactions away, but again, can you blame them?

I love the idea of just putting the money in an envelope and sending it off. Really, the same as credit cards, you still can just say goodbye to your money.
It is bad enough to go to a land casino and watch your money go out the door (I do it), but to give it to someone that is unregulated and in hyperspace someplace seems pretty stupid to me. I mean, some people barely trust the land based casinos to not rip them off, but virtual casino - yikes! I can only begin to imagine the house hold. But then again, I know people that think sending an email to 100 people will result in getting a free computer. Or sending $$ to some foreign official will result in millions going into their bank account. Or the day a friend said they were getting a new tv and vcr soon since they filled in a card and sent it back. Yea, right. |
