I had figured this would be a trip we'd have to pay for several buffets and some rooms but the comps the Fitz handed out to us were pretty amazing to me. I had made reservations over a month ago with a casino host who comped my room for 2 nights. I also made reservations for 2 more rooms, one for $99 and the other for $119. About a week ago it dawned on me I had a coupon for 2 nights free anytime in July so I thought I'd call reservations and see if I could apply that coupon to a second room. I didn't figure they'd let me since I already had a room comped by the host. To my surprise they did let me apply my coupon to a second room which left me the most expensive room to pay for but I wasn't complaining about that. I ended up cancelling that room for Friday night since our son-in-laws grandmother had a room for 2 nights at Harrah's and was only staying Thursday. She let them use her room Friday night there and we checked them in at the Fitz Saturday.
As for meal comps again I was amazed. We started playing craps at the Fitz Friday afternoon and soon after our kids got there. They all got cards and our kids came to the table to play also. Son-in-law went to some card game, I don't know which one and showed back up about 30 minutes later saying he was down around $50 bucks but had been comped 6 buffets for that night. He had never set foot in the Fitz until Friday and played that short amount of time and got comped like that. This went on all weekend. We were comped for Saturday morning and Saturday night buffets and then also got comps for the Sunday brunch which I really like. Before checkout I stopped in and visited with a nice casino host that knocked my room back from $129 ( they upped the rate for Sat. when I cancelled Fri.) back to $75.00. Total comps for the weekend were 24 buffets and a total of 5 nights hotel rooms for a total of $75.00. The Fitz took care of us for sure but we have been staying there almost exclusively for several years and have averaged a trip a month since September of 2007.
As for the gambling we all came back winners. We gave our son some gambling money for his birthday and he never got into any of his own money. He came back about $100 up and played craps mostly. Our daughter had some very good luck after losing most of what she had brought I gave her $100 Saturday night and told her if she lost it not to worry but if she won she could give me the 100 back. We played for about an hour and she was up about 300. She paid me back which I really didn't care but I just stuck the money back to give to her later again if she needed it and went on up to the room. The next morning she told me she lost all of it but $12.00. It was her time to roll so she put it on the pass line and odds. She said she must have rolled for 45 minutes and cashed out 292.00. That put her and the son-in-law up for the trip. Sunday morning we won a little more so everyone ended up in good shape after some pretty heavy gambling. We went to Sam's Town for about 2 hours Friday night but other than that stayed at the Fitz the entire time. K and I will usually casino hop quite alot but we stuck with the Fitz most of the time and it paid off this trip. They have some very good dealers there that we know and enjoy interacting with while we're playing which helps also.
The food was good and enjoyed by all. As I mentioned earlier I really like the Sunday brunch at the Fitz. It starts at 10:00 AM and has plenty of breakfast foods, including made to order omelets but also has a full line of lunch items also. They also have champagne and Mimosas, a combo of champagne and orange juice which were pretty good. They had excellent bar-b-que brisket, pork loin that was easily cut with a fork and very good frog legs as well as fried and baked chicken. Our daughter said the mac and cheese was outstanding although I'll have to admit I'm not a big fan of it. They also have a full dessert line for the brunch. I always get the lemon squares there along with another dessert of two, I never seem to know when to quit.
This turned out to be a great trip for everyone. The kids won money and the mother in law enjoyed the eating and shopping. I'll admit though I'm ready to come back with just the 2 of us again for a while. I expect we'll make another "family trip" at some point though but probably not any time soon.
