What's the earliest Sam's Town will let us get our rooms? |

I was looking at our reservations for Sam's Town. It says check in time is at 4:00pm. What time zone is Tunica in? Will Sam's let us check
in before 4:00pm? If so about what is the earliest we can expect to check in? We are driving from Chicago. It is about 600 miles. I think it will
take about 10 hours. I was hoping we could leave about midnight or 2:00 am and avoid a lot of traffic. But I don't want to get there and not be able to
check in. We did this once in Vegas. I don't have a problem not gambling until after checkin, but my wife does. On that Vegas trip she lost $400 of her
$1000 gambling money before we ever checked in.
Thanks. Eddie |

Most of the time you can check-in by 2:00pm. If not, stop at the Deli where you first come in, get a drink and people watch. Relaxing and fun.
Or if you aren't too tired, stop at Harrah's and look around and see the new place. I am sure it is worth taking a peek, and you may find a lucky machine while there. You can also check Paula Deen's new buffet upstairs at Harrah's. Have a great time. Carol |

Hi Eddie,
Tunica is in the Central time zone. I live in NW Indiana and and since you are probably heading down I-57 through IL, you shouldn't have a bad drive there once you get out of the Chicago area. Should be smooth sailing until you get to the Memphis area. Watch the speed traps in Southern IL....seems like there are a lot of them down there! Have a great trip, have fun and win lots of $$$! I must also add my warning about speed traps in Southern Illinois. You may not see them but they ARE there watching. Not only the State Police but most of the
County deputies set up on I-57.
My experiences have been that they are most prevalent from about Marion south almost to the state line. Perhaps because it is such a remote area. They are the thickest on weekends but they have a presence all the time. Watch for a single car sitting on a overpass then a few klicks farther on you will see the pursuit cars. |

Thanks for the info and the warnings about speed traps. I haven't looked at a map yet so I don't know if I take I57 or I55. I have an old radar
detector and a garmin that I received for xmas. Does anyone know if the radar detector is illegal in any of the states from IL to Tunica, Ms.
Thanks again. Eddie |

Eddie ....... on check in..... Since check out is 11 am it takes awhile to "redo" the rooms. Usually the hotels will start letting early check in
around 1 or 2. If the night before was slow your chances for early check in are better. Our earliest was 11 one time. Also had to wait until after 6 one time
too. lol.
Carol has some good suggestions. Speed in tunica county - The hwy patrol is the guy with the radar gun. Because of all the wrecks and people driving under the influence coming out of the casinos.......it would be foolish to be in a big hurry here. I beg people please slow down once you get closer to the casinos and be very very cautious. We see it everyday, people speed up the closer they get to the casinos. We hear the sirens. Please don't get in a hurry the closer you get. Hope ya'll have a great trip! Jen |

Thanks for all the help. I think we will leave about 2:00am. We should miss all the traffic and probably drive the 600 miles is about 10 hours. I think the
speed limit most of the way is 70. Thanks again.

We drive to tunica from Mchenry three times a year and have found driving down Hwy55 is better than Hwy57 the StLouis area bypass is a piece of cake and 55
south to Ark.is straight as a string the traffic moves along at a very good pace if you leave Chicago early in the A.M. we have found that the trip home is the
killer after playing all week we are usually to exhausted to drive all the way home so we overnight at

Like just about any hotel, they have an "announced" check in time. That is only a guideline, and used mainly to keep people from expecting to get in
earlier. If they have rooms at even 8am, they will gladly check you in. On the other hand, if it is 5pm, and there are still some rooms to be cleaned and they
have no rooms, you will wait. Luck of the draw and how busy they are and how staff called in sick.
